Top Shoe Trends For Fall 2016 Sep 21, 2016 by Sarah (Day Styles)

With summer coming to an end, we’re all feeling the itch to get our hands on some new shoes for the fall season. Summer is a great season to wear those strappy sandals and cute wedges, but fall is where you get to bring out those knee-high boots, the suede pumps, and patent leather ankle booties that you’ve been eyeing since last year. Here are some of fall’s hottest trends - you’ll definitely want to get your hands on some of these!

Velvet Boots

Velvet ankle boots can give your outfit that extra depth that you’ve been looking for. When you’re shopping for a pair, find ones that are tight around the ankle with at least a little platform. Velvet isn’t waterproof so the platform will help keep your feet dry if need be. For that same reason, make sure to use a top-of-the-line shoe spray to keep the boots as waterproof and stain resistant as possible.

Combat Boots

Yes, combat boots have been seen on many runways this season, and surprisingly enough, they look pretty chic and fashion forward! If you’re not in the market to splurge on a pair from Prada or Louis Vuitton, you can easily revamp your Doc Martens by using your own patches to make them unique to you.

Embellished Booties

If boots and booties are your go-to, try spicing things up with an embellished bootie! That’s right, go for all the studs and all the metal. They don’t just come in black either (although you can never go wrong with black!) You can set yourself apart by going for a pastel pink or baby blue pair, but always keep in mind that the more metal, the better. If studs aren’t your thing, stay on trend and just get plain old black booties but with a hint of metal, perhaps on the heel.

Shoe Embellishments

Do you have a favourite pair of shoes or sandals that could use a little “pick me up?” We are all about the embellishments this summer, pretty much the more sequins and beads the better. You can buy them already sparkly and amazing, or you can DIY and add on as much or as little as you’d like. While you’re doing this, another fall trend that you can try is pairing your glittering sandals or shoes with socks. This is the one time you’re actually allowed to do that!

Mules were popular in the summer, but they’re also transitioning into a fall shoe and we couldn’t be more thrilled! White mules are the perfect shoe to pair with some awesome fall pieces, especially if they are pointy-toed. They come in a variety of colours and styles and heel heights to choose from so you can easily find a pair that’s best suited for you.
