Why It’s Great To Go Holiday Shopping In Real Life Dec 22, 2016 by Sarah (Day Styles)

Sure, it’s easy to shop online and have something delivered right to your door, but don’t you find it a little less…fun compared to shopping in real life? I mean, part of the holidays is the hustle and bustle in the local mall? You might not need to brave the crowds for every item, but there are some great reasons why you should also include some shopping action this year!

Finding the Perfect Gift

Let’s be honest here, when you’re out trying to find the perfect gift, it can be so much more fun and exciting to be there in person so you can feel, touch, see the item before you buy it. Buying someone else a gift at the store reduces anxiety about the arrival date and the condition of the item, especially if you're shopping last minute! It’s a way to experience some Christmas magic all around you! At this time of year, all of the lights, decorations, and holiday music really gives shopping a whole different experience than shopping online.

It Can Be Social

Invite some friends and make Christmas shopping a fun day out with the gang! Besides getting in that quality time together, it will be nice to have friends that can give you a second opinion on what it is that you’re buying. If you’re planning on going away for the holidays, this can be a great opportunity to get together with all of your friends and spend time before you leave. You could start the day by meeting up for lunch and then get out there and go shopping.

Shopping Is Way More Fun Than the Gym

Hear us out! You can count shopping in real life like exercise, whereas you can’t if you’re shopping online! With all of the walking you’ll be doing, it will help fight the effects of all of those holidays treats that you’ll be eating at each and every party. Once you’ve gathered some of the items on your list, then the real workout starts. Carrying heavy bags around with you all day is the perfect alternative to the gym! Try taking the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator if you really want to maximize your shopping/workout experience.

You Won’t Forget About YOU

When you’re out shopping in real life, it’s hard not to find a million things that you’d like to purchase for yourself. And while the holiday season is all about giving and thinking about others, it doesn’t hurt to treat yourself to something nice! As important it is to keep others in mind at this time of year, it’s equally as important to be kind to yourself and give yourself some love too. Pick up that sweater you’ve been eyeing for a while, or grab something that you couldn’t justify giving yourself throughout the year - ‘tis the season!
