How To Ask For What You Truly Want

For a lot of people, it’s really hard to ask for what you truly want whether it’s in a personal or professional setting. There are certain tricks that you need to set yourself up for success. Thankfully, we have everything lined up for you!

Trust In Yourself

If you don’t put your faith in something, it won’t deliver. If you don’t believe you deserve what you’re asking for, you’re actually saying that you don’t think you’re worthy, and you feel like you’re not ready. If you don’t trust yourself, you won’t gain the confidence you need to make a bold request, and it’s probably not going to happen.

Commit To Your Request

Before asking people for specific requests, ask yourself what you truly want. If you’re not confident in your pitch, people won’t be sure about how to respond, and you probably won’t get what you want. If you’re totally committed and know exactly what it is you want, people will sense it and help you achieve whatever it is you’re looking for.

Don’t Be Afraid

Fear is one of the biggest things that blocks us from going after the things we want. When asking for something important, there’s a fair bit of fear involved that things will turn out badly. Different people have different concerns, and for that reason, people just won’t go after what they want. Take a hard look at your concerns and compare them to the potential rewards. Don’t let fear stand in your way!

Understand The Consequences

When you’re asking for something, always be aware of what accompanies your request. If you need a raise, be mindful of the fact that you’re going to be taking on more work and responsibilities. If you want a vacation, be aware that you’re going to have more work before and after. There’s no such thing a free lunch, so when you’re making a pitch for something always be aware of the consequences.

Ask Without Expectations

Whatever it is you’re asking for may not come the first time, so you may have to ask more than once. If you’re looking for something more ambiguous or difficult to control, like love, it’s important to understand that what you’re looking for may not come when you’re expecting it! If you’re asking for something from someone specific, know that they may not be able to accommodate you immediately so don’t raise your expectations.

Whatever you truly need, take your time, conquer your fears, and make the commitment—and at the right time and the right place, you’ll get what you want!
