Cute And Playful First Date Ideas Jul 13, 2016 by Sarah (Day Styles)
When you’re “single but on the mingle,” dating can get a little bit tedious. Meeting different people at familiar places, ordering the same meals, getting the same drinks, all with hopes that you may hit it off - if you’re lucky. It can be fun at times, but who actually enjoys small talk and waking up the next morning with a hangover, especially if you didn’t like the person in the first place? If you’re anything like me, you think that dating should be way more fun than that! Thankfully there are really cool and interesting activities you can do instead. Here are some cute and playful first date ideas for your next potential love interest!
Do Something Outdoors
If you and your date both love the outdoors, why not do something active and fun outside? Go biking, hiking, or even rent a canoe and explore your local lake or river. If the weather isn’t as great as you had planned, you can try indoor mountain climbing wall or an indoor driving range! If you’re both athletic, these types of activities will be a lot of fun - and if you’re feeling lazy, take it slow and enjoy a walk!
Have A Three-Course Dinner - At Different Places!
It’s always fun to go out for a nice dinner, but why not pick a few different places and divide your dinner into three fun components. Pick a place to have a glass of wine and an appetizer, pick another spot for your entree, and go somewhere different for dessert! The possibilities are endless, and it allows you to check out a few restaurants all in one night.
Go To An Outdoor Movie or Concert
If the dating season coincides with summer, hitting an outdoor movie or concert is the perfect date. There are so many different shows being held outdoors, from concerts to movies to live theatre productions, which you can always find something that interests you or your date. It can also be an economical idea as they are often free! So check your local newspaper or website and check out what’s going on in your area.
Check Out A Street Fair
Find out what food festivals or street festivals are happening in your city. If you can find one that’s truly adventurous, that’s the best! You can both discover new foods, art, and activities. Besides - if things get really bad with your date, it’s a perfect place to “accidentally” run into a friend who “needs your help” and bail on a bad situation.
Visit A Farmers’ Market
Hit up a local farmers’ market and do some grocery shopping for the week! It can be fun to walk around and look at all of the fresh produce, arts and crafts, and other items available. If you want, you can purchase a few things that you need for the week. You can often find some pretty good deals, and the produce offered is usually much healthier and organic than the produce you find at the grocery store. You can even shop together and then make a home-cooked meal with what you find at the market!
Try A Painting Class
A painting class is fun because the worse you are, the funnier the experience and the date! Bring your date, put your artistic skills to the test, and have a nice glass of wine. Some classes even have a “BYOB” option available. If you don’t want to attend a class and are still interested in painting, you can buy some art supplies and have an artistic evening at home. Whatever you do, just have fun!
