Style Tips For Meeting The Parents
We’ve all been in a position where we’ve had to meet the parents of our new significant other, and we’ve all been nervous. We want to give a really great first impression (and second impression!) But we also want our personality and style to shine through as well. With some simple styling choices, you’ll fit right in with the new family!
The LBD (Little Black Dress)
A flattering little black dress is always a great choice. Pick one that has a long hemline and isn’t revealing, pair with a nice pair of pumps or some ballet flats and minimalistic jewelry. You can add a scarf, or look for a dress that has some added elements like pockets, an interesting neckline, or a bow accent!
A Great Pair of Pants
Find a trendy pair of pants! Look for bright colors during the summer or darker colors during the fall/winter. If it’s spring or summer, you could even pull off a pattern like floral and pair with a nice light shirt. Cigarette pants or wide-legged pants are always very flattering and imply professional elegance. You can pair both with either flats or pumps. It’s up to you and what you’re comfortable with.
The Proper Jacket
If you’re going through all of the motions to put together the perfect outfit, you don’t want to wreck it with a frumpy jacket. Opt for a ladylike jacket that fits your current outfit. If you’re wearing a dress or skirt, try and find a jacket long enough to cover the bottom of your skirt, or if it’s a dress try and find a jacket that has a similar hem. If you have pants on, you could wear a jacket at any length, but ensure if gives you the silhouette that you’re looking for, whether it’s synched in at the waist, or loose on top and tight on the bottom.
