Summer Style 2016: New Beauty Trends You Need To Try

Jun 3, 2016 by Sarah (Day Styles)

Spring is here, summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to put away your winter beauty products and embrace the sunny weather! Put away your heavy moisturizers and get something lighter now that the weather is warmer. Put away the dark or neutral makeup and start adding more color! The weather is changing, so whatever you need to do to update your beauty regime, now is the time. Try adding in some of these beauty trends to your repertoire!

Blue Eyeliner

Are you a sucker for black or brown eyeliner? You’re not alone, but how about swapping it out for a colored liquid or pencil liner for an easy spring makeup look? Blue liner may remind you of the 80s, but keep the look clean by either using it just as a crisp upper lid line with a wing or add just a touch on the bottom of your eye. If you opt to swipe a stripe of blue on the bottom lash-line, keep the rest of your makeup clean and neutral as the blue should be the focal point of the whole look. Find a color that’s bright enough to make a statement, and not dark enough that it looks like another black eyeliner.

Gilded Lids

Swap your regular eyeshadow for gold this spring! Gold is trending everywhere this spring/summer, so why not pop some into your makeup routine as well. The best part is that you can use gold as a super subtle shimmer on the lids, or you can go full-on metallic for a nighttime look. Powdered shadow will provide a subtle look, and a cream shadow will be much more intense. Gold comes in a variety of shades, so no matter what your skin tone you’ll be able to find the right shade for you. Keep in mind that if you have fair skin, classic gold will look best on you. People with medium and olive skin tones look best with a more polished shade of gold, and people with dark skin tones look best with a deep gold.

Opaque Beige Nails

If you love your manicures pretty and neutral like I do, you’ll love this trend for spring. Instead of opting for a pink hue, a great replacement is an opaque beige. Instead of classic pink, the full coverage of the beige gives the color a little bit more interest. The color works well with any skin color and any nail length - it actually helps to create the look of elongated fingers. At the same time, in our opinion, it looks best on almond shaped nails.
